BIOKREIS Team Management – Germany paid a visit to Romania
Following the steps BPCE Munich, at the Nuremberg fair BIOFACH 2010, Mr. Marian Cioceanu, president of BIO-Romania, invited the management BIOKREIS – Germany to make a working visit to Romania on 26-28.04.2010.
Purpose of the visit was to initiate a discussion group on the launching of cooperative projects to promote the organic sector in Romania. BIOKREIS leadership is interested to import Romanian ecological products (cereals, soya, sunflower, herbs, fruit forest, honey, etc.). Also, German specialists offer training, both by means of continuous training and retraining in the School of Ecological Agriculture of Landshut – Schönbrunn (Landshut Ökoschule Schonnbrunn).
In Romania, many farmers are subsistence farmers from farms that wish to convert to organic microfarms. They have the facilities being eligible for receiving the subventions, but they do not have the training and techniques needed for this.
Therefore, they would need continue training, offered by the German side, in the School of Ecological Agriculture of Landshut – Schönbrunn (Landshut Ökoschule Schonnbrunn). Therefore, Biokreis partnership is very useful for this purpose.
In this respect, during a visit to the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Welfare, together with Mr. Valentin Mocanu Secretary of State, they agreed to start a working group with the aim to convert rural subsistence farms, with the help of German side expertise. They will become profitable organic microfarms providing food and agricultural products with high nutritional value, available for both domestic markets and also for export.
After this visit, German delegation with BIO-ROMANIA Association met with representatives of the Ecological University of Bucharest and representatives of University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine. Following the discussions, it was agreed that there is the possibility of conducting practical training courses and master students of both universities in Germany, at the institutions which are members of Biokreis.
Also, in the first day of the working visit, the delegation Biokreis, representatives of BIO Romania Association and representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development went to Tulcea, where they could visit: organic farm crop production AGRO EXIM GROUP Tulcea, SC Biodam SRL. – a processor of sunflower and soybean products and the organic vegetable farm SC Veritas SA.
Biokreis representatives were impressed by the visited farms, and by the farming potential of Romania’s Agriculture. Also in Tulcea, at the working visit was organized a round table with producers and organic farmers, especially with those from the south-east of the country.
Following this visit, BIO Romania Association representatives and the members of the delegation Biokreis Germany concluded with a cooperation protocol. This collaboration protocol has the primarily aim to promote each other organization and to develop together programs and activities with strong social implications.
BioKreis Management Association invited the members of Bio Romania to return the visit to Germany.
The conclusions of the Biokreis delegation was that the potential for organic farming is a huge one in Romania, Romania having the resources to become the main exporter of organic products in Germany, instead of China.
Certified Organic Products such as soy, beans, groats, soybean, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, berries, honey, etc. are in deficit on the German market and Romanian environmental quality is compatible to the German market requests.
The Bio-Romania Association wishes to implement the quality standard of BioKreis and the right to use the logo BioKreis for the Romanian products exported to Germany.
